Jo Ann (Swaney) Smith

Jo Ann Swaney Smith, 83, of Greensboro passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Funeral will be 3:00 PM Sunday, June 15, 2025 at George Brothers Funeral Service. There will be a private entombment at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.

Jo Ann was born September 5, 1941 in Guilford County, NC to the late Jesse and Bess Black. Jo Ann has been a longtime member of Sedgefield Presbyterian Church.

Along with her parents, Jo Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Don Smith along with siblings, Dorothy Ryel, Dixie Turner, Ruth Andrews, Hal Swaney and Jonathan Swaney.

She is survived by her son, Paul Don Smith (Tanya) of Randleman; daughter, Jennifer Messer (Joe) of Greensboro; stepdaughter, Lisa Potter (Ralph) of Reidsville; grandchildren, Kirstin, Dalen, Makinley, Hannah and Colby; and great grandson, Rhett.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service.
