Joan Yvonne (Varner) Harden

Mrs. Joan Yvonne Varner Harden, 88, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Beacon Place.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 1, 2022 at 10:00 am at George Brothers Funeral Service with Pastor Mike Barkley officiating.  Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Harden was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Paul Harden; parents, John and Mary Varner; and sisters Alice Hilton, Nellie Wells, Ann Dye and Brother JM Varner.

She is survived by her children, Bennie Paul Harden Jr. (Cindy), Beverly Harden Poe (Jim), Tommy Radford Harden (Karen), Lisa Kay Harden, and Penny Harden Whiteley; grandchildren, Kyndal Harden Sutherland (Wayne), Megan Poe Hall (Jeff), Lauren Whiteley Crowe (Kenny), Jamey Poe Watlington (Will), Timothy Justin Harden (April) and Joshua Dylan Harden; great-grandchildren, Terry Graham Sutherland, Tucker Wayne Sutherland, Decklin Patrick Crowe, Aiden Michael Crowe, Beckett Andrew Watlington and Charlie Jean Watlington  and a host of nieces, nephews, family members, and friends whom she loved.

She was a loving wife and mother. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed entertaining. She enjoyed camping with her family.  

The family would like to extend a very special and heart-felt “Thank You” to staff of Beacon Place and AuthoraCare Collective of Greensboro for their care and support of Mrs. Harden.

The family will receive friends from 9:00-10:00 am on Monday at the funeral home prior to the service.
