John Daniel Chavis

Mr. John Daniel Chavis, 89, of Greensboro, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday October 21, 2025.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at George Brothers Funeral Service with Pastor Steve Gunter officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm-2:00pm at the funeral home prior to the service.

John was born in Robeson County, NC to the late Hubert and Willa Locklear Chavis. He owned and operated Chavis Electric and retired from a career as an electrician after over 60 years. He was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church where he enjoyed attending services, events, and sharing in fellowship with his church family. In his spare time John enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR races, fishing, and meeting his buddies for breakfast. He was a very outgoing person who enjoyed life to his fullest.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his siblings James Chavis, Reatha Jacobs, Millard Chavis, Harlis Lee Chavis, and Emma Mae Locklear; one great-grandchild; and son-in-law Billy Clark.

Surviving are his daughters Debbie Atkins, Deanna King (Richard), and Patsy Clark; grandchildren Jason Atkins, Mitch Atkins (Madison), Taylor Atkins (Rubi), Matthew King (Megan), Maegan Sampson (Don), Veneshia Strickland (Steve), Kelly Chavis (Garrett), and Cindy Jacobs (Eric). Also surviving are 10 great-grandchildren.
