Mr. Joseph “Hoyt” Phillips, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Hospice Home of the Piedmont in High Point, North Carolina.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, at George Brothers Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Born in Montgomery County, Hoyt was the son of the late Eli Carson Phillips and Berty Lou Owens Phillips. A hardworking and devoted man, he spent many years as an electrician with Bristol Myers Squibb before retiring. He was also a proud United States Army veteran who served his country honorably from 1964 to 1966 during the Vietnam War.
Hoyt was a man who embraced life with enthusiasm and enjoyed a wide range of interests. He had a passion for classic muscle cars, golfing, and running, and he never met an animal he did not love. His kindness, strong work ethic, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Hoyt cherished his family, friends, and community. He will be remembered for his warm heart, unwavering dedication, and the many lives he touched throughout his years.
In addition to his parents, Hoyt was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Phillips and Roy Phillips.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Tabatha Holliday (Daniel); former spouse, Nancy Phillips; sisters, Brenda Spinks, Cynthia Brewer, and Rogerlynn Macon (Craig); along with numerous extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Home of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the home caregivers and staff of Hospice Home of the Piedmont for their compassionate care and support.
