Kenneth R. Mowery, Sr., 79, of Climax died Saturday, April 23, 2022 at his home.
Funeral will be 11:00 AM Thursday, April 28, 2022 at George Brothers Funeral Service with burial to follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.
Kenneth was born January 7, 1943 in Guilford County to the late Clyde and Martha Reynolds Mowery. He was a graduate of the Pleasant Garden High School. Kenneth worked with several local supermarkets through the years including Bestway and A and P eventually retiring from Harris Teeter. He was a huge NASCAR fan and amassed a large collection of NASCAR memorabilia throughout the years. He loved gardening, fishing, and antiquing. Kenneth will always be remembered as a wonderful grandfather and dad.
Along with his parents, Kenneth is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred “Margie” Mowery; sister, Martha Jane Graham; and brother, Thomas Wayne Mowery.
He is survived by his children, Trudy Davis (Britt) of Pleasant Garden, Pam Grubbs (Larry) of Climax, David Mowery of Greensboro, and Kenny Mowery, Jr. (Myra) of Climax; grandchildren, Mitch Baysinger, Krystle Baysinger, Derrick Biggs (Megan), Kevin Grubbs (Keshia), Susan Mowery, Christian Mowery, Kenneth Ray, Elana Mowery, Abby, Courtney, and Austin; great-grandchildren, Kaylan, Donovan, Jakob, Nolan, Greyson, Harper, Joshua, Henry, Mason, and Alice; brother, Clyde Eugene Mowery (Mary) of Climax; sisters, Lorena Fields of Climax and Elizabeth “Betsy” Lee (Keith) of Fruitland, New Mexico; and longtime close friend, John Taylor.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
