Lane Riley Gillis (38) was born on May 29, 1986. He passed away in his home on Monday, June 24, 2024. Lane graduated from Southeast Guilford High School in 2004. He participated in the NJROTC program, where he even got to be a part of a movie. He was an Eagle Scout and he reached Order of the Arrow level. Lane was recently working for the City of Greensboro at the Wastewater Treatment Facility. He was taking operator classes and passed his grade 1 and was working on getting his grade 2. Before going to work for the city he worked at A&B Portables for many years, which he loved.
Lane never met a stranger and loved many dearly. He would offer a helping hand to anyone in need. He had strong family ties and many close friendships that he cherished. When he wasn’t working or helping someone, his pride and joy was spending time with his son Wyatt. He loved taking his son fishing, spending time on the lake, or just goofing off at the house. Lane was a beloved member of Sharpe Road Baptist Church where he served faithfully within the church and community. Lane loved working and tinkering with anything that had a motor. He enjoyed riding motorcycles when he had the time.
