Larry Burns Obituary

Rev. Larry Wayne Burns, 80, left this earth and moved to Heaven Sunday afternoon, November 23, 2025 at Hospice Home at High Point, with his family by his side.

He was preceded in death by his parents, “Gene” and Lola Burns of Jamestown, NC.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce McDonald Burns. daughter, Lori Mashburn (Ernie); son, Todd Burns (Leighann); grandsons, Justin Burns (Kayte), Jacob Mashburn, Seth Mashburn, and Noah Burns; great-granddaughter, Skylar Burns who he adored; and a host of family and friends whom he loved.

Joyce was the love of his life. They were high school sweethearts at Ragsdale High School. They shared a lifetime together. They were always Best Friends and shared a love that few people are blessed to experience.

He was a true entrepreneur who owned and operated a furniture company in High Point for 20 years and was a commercial and residential developer for 10 plus years. He attended Piedmont Bible College and was on the Board of Directors of Child Evangelism Fellowship.  He accepted the call to ministry in 1989. He was ordained by Dr. Buddy Harrison at Faith Christian Fellowship International in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He pioneered and Pastored Praise and Worship Center in Jamestown and Thomasville, NC for 25 years. He had a true Shepherds heart. He ministered abroad in Mexico, Canada, and Spain.

He loved to spend his free time hunting, fishing, playing golf and being with his family, especially at the beach. He coached Little League Baseball in Jamestown and never missed a game his grandsons played, from youth leagues through high school. He has been at the heart of our lives and will be greatly missed.

There will be a private family service held at Cape Lookout, NC.
