McLeansville, NC, Larry Ray Idol, Jr., age 61, passed away on August 27, 2025, at Beacon Place
in Greensboro, NC. He was a native of Alamance County and an employee of Piedmont Natural
Gas/Duke Energy Company for 26 years.
He was preceded in death by his, parents, Linda Barber Creel and Larry Ray Idol, Sr.; brother,
John W. Idol; son, Derek Lee Shoffner; and nephew, Chaz Idol.
Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Tracey Seawell Idol; daughter, Brooke Elizabeth Idol, of the
home; grandson, Rhyan Jackson; brother, Keith Edwards (Lisa) of Burlington; and stepmother, Edna Idol of Randleman.
Larry loved NASCAR racing and enjoyed going to the local tracks. He enjoyed fishing, as this
could be a time to slow down and enjoy the outdoors and playing a good game of pool. He
enjoyed riding his Harley on nice sunny days with his friends. He had a love of cooking and
grilling out to share food with family and friends. He also enjoyed gardening, the planting of
seeds and watching them grow. Most of all he enjoyed the time with his family.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Bethel
Presbyterian Church, 300 Knox Road, McLeansville, North Carolina 27301 conducted by the
Reverend Eugene Dean, burial will follow in church cemetery. The family will receive friends
following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
Memorials may be made to Bethel Presbyterian Church, or the charity of one’s choice.
