Larry Dwight Reed, Sr.

Mr. Larry Dwight Reed, Sr., 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 27, 2023 at his home with his family by his side after a year of declining health.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 2:00 pm at George Brothers Funeral Service with Pastor Mike Barkley officiating.  Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.

Mr. Reed was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Nezzie Reed; two brothers; and four sisters.

Larry had retired from Gilbarco after 37 years of service as a machinist, prior to that he was a fireman with the city of Greensboro. He enjoyed working on lawn mowers, and also enjoyed attending auctions.  He was an avid Carolina Tarheels fan, a NASCAR fan, and loved going to local races at Piedmont Dragstrip.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn Hanks Reed; son, Larry Dwight Reed, Jr. (Carol); son, Jeff Alan Reed; daughter, Tammy Reed Beeson (Bobby); daughter, Kim Reed Fryar (Brandon); nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sandy Grady; along with many nieces, nephews, family members and friends whom he loved.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00-2:00 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
