Mrs. Lena Hanner Cooper, 101, of Greensboro, passed away on April 17, 2022, at Clapps Nursing Center in Pleasant Garden.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday at George Brothers Funeral Service with Pastor Brett Seawell officiating. The burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Cooper was born in Guilford County on December 17, 1920, to the late Claude and Millie Bowman Hanner. She was formerly a member of Vandalia Presbyterian Church for more than fifty years and currently a loving member of New Testament Baptist Church. She volunteered for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile and Meals on Wheels for over twenty-five years. She also loved to complete jigsaw puzzles in her spare time. Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund M. Cooper; her daughter, Beverly Diane Cooper; her son, Edmund M. Cooper, Jr.; brothers, John Samuel Hanner and Fred Coy Hanner; sisters, Viola Pearl Hanner, Carrie Hanner Greeson, and Nellie Hanner Edmonds and half-sister, Dixie Kimrey.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and her loving church families.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
