Mr. Leon Jones, 69, departed this life on Friday evening, May 20, 2022 with his family and friends by his side.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 11:00 am at Lakeview Memorial Park in the mausoleum with Pastor Mike Barkley officiating.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Annie Pearl Jones; sister, Gearlene Freeman; and brother, Tony Jones.
Leon was a real people-person who loved life and spending time with his family and friends. He was a hard-working man who always took care of his family. As a child, Leon was educated in the Columbus County School System. After working on the farm for numerous years he started working at Georgia Pacific in Whiteville, NC and then worked for Cone Mills in Greensboro for many years. He loved being outside, was an avid sports fan, and was the best cook in the family. Leon loved the Redskins and was probably one of their biggest fans.
Leon leaves to cherish his memory, his longtime companion, Mary Jones; daughter, Bambi Huffman, of Ramseur; daughter, Leigh Amber Jones, (Tye), of Greensboro; son, Adam Jones (Nisha), of Greensboro; four step-daughters; grandchildren, Abby Reese, Brittny Harrington (Michelle), Cody Reese, and Stephen Huffman, Za’dyn Jones, and Ryann Bray; eighteen step-grandchildren; great-granddaughter, Mikaylah; seven step-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Bobby Jones, of Whiteville, Harry “Porky” Jones (Leslie), of Bolton, Johnny Oxendine (Linda), of Lumberton, and Ricky Jones, of Lumberton; three sisters, Chestine Chavis, of Lumberton, Icelene Jones (Gregory), of Kinston, and Carolyn “Spanky” Ransom (Larry), of Clarkton; and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends whom he loved.
The family will receive friends on Friday, at the mausoleum from 10:00-11:00 am prior to the service.
