Leslie Camille (Groome) Morgan

Mrs. Leslie Camille Groome Morgan, 57, went home to be with her Lord, Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Wesley Long Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Southside Baptist Church with Dr. Howard McNeill and Mr. Mickey Atkinson officiating.  Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Wednesday at the church.

Leslie was born January 27, 1964 in Guilford County to Fred McIver Groome, Jr. and Jimmie Carolyn Smith Groome. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and a huge advocate for Donate Life. 

Her mama said Essie Mae, as she was nicknamed, was a “special little girl” with a fierce determination to be independent. She overcame her physical limitations with her mental fortitude, sense of humor and desire to live. May her zest for life be a lesson to us all.

In addition to her father, Leslie was preceded in death by her son, Samuel McIver Morgan.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband Robert Barry “Rusty” Morgan, Jr.; her mother, Jimmie Groome; her brother, Fred McIver Groome III (Melissa); her 2 sisters, Julia Groome Allred (Steve) and Nell Foster McCoury (James). Leslie had a slew of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own and also had a special relationship with each and every one. She was also loved by aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family members.
