Linda Maria (Calos) Sadler

Linda Maria Calos Sadler lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service.  On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, Linda passed away peacefully after a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Though the disease gradually demanded much of her physical strength, it never diminished the qualities that defined her: her faith, compassionate spirit, resilience, and unwavering love for family and friends.

Linda was born on August 27, 1952 to a first-generation Greek immigrant father and a mother from High Point, North Carolina. She was raised in Danville, Virginia alongside her two sisters and brother, carrying with her throughout her life the values of hard work, loyalty, humility, and a deep commitment to faith and family.

As a graduate of Wake Forest University and UNC Chapel Hill, Linda grew her love of learning, became a pharmacist, and met lifelong friends.  It was in Raleigh that Linda met the love of her life, Henry, while they were both students at North Carolina State University. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and service to others.

Linda’s professional life was devoted to caring for others as a retail pharmacist. She understood that behind every prescription was a person seeking relief and compassion. She approached her work with kindness, patience, and attentiveness, offering comfort as readily as she dispensed medication.

A longtime member of Hinshaw United Methodist Church, Linda was deeply committed to the church community she loved for many years. Her faith extended well beyond Sunday mornings.  She was involved in most aspects of the church, from teaching Sunday school, attending mission trips, leading groups and bible studies, organizing angel trees at Christmas, working at Hot Dog Tuesday, planning youth activities, driving church members to appointments and worship, and the list goes on.

Linda embraced life’s simple joys. She was an avid Beatles fan and was always ready to enjoy their timeless music. She had a love and appreciation for plants and flowers and enjoyed spending time in nature to appreciate it all. In her later years, she discovered a love for crocheting, finding both creativity and purpose in making things by hand for those she loved. Her grandchildren and family members were the recipients of blankets, hats, washcloths, water balloons, and countless handmade gifts, each stitched with love, patience, and thoughtfulness. Through these gifts, Linda continued what she had always done best: caring for others.

Above all else, Linda was devoted to her family.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents Stavros and Margaret Calos; her beloved husband, Henry Sadler; and her brother, Steve Calos.

She leaves behind her daughters, Sarah Sadler Bowden (Derek), and Maria Sadler Burton (Michael); her cherished grandsons, Henry, Jack, Jordan, and Mike; her sisters, Laurie Dishman (Steve) and Lisa Salita (Andy); her sister-in-law, Katherine Calos; her nieces and nephews, Russell Dishman (Dana), Anna Dishman Sargent (Tommy), Stavros Calos, Margaret Irina Calos, Michael Salita (Lizzie), and Helen Salita; great nieces and nephews; and Dobbins and Calos cousins.

A service celebrating Linda’s life will be held at Hinshaw United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 13 at 4:00 pm with a visitation at 3:00 pm in the sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions to the PanCan Network, which is dedicated to pancreatic cancer research, treatment, and awareness, in the hope that continued advances may spare other families from walking the difficult road that Linda courageously traveled or to Hinshaw United Methodist Church.

The family is grateful for the love, prayers, and support extended to them throughout Linda’s illness and in the days following her passing.
