Lisa Denise (James) Benson

Lisa James Benson, 61, of Liberty, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Moses H Cone Memorial Hospital.

Funeral will be 2:00 PM Sunday, December 28, 2025 at George Brothers Funeral Service with burial to follow at Gilmore Memorial Park in Julian.

Lisa was a loving soul that never met a stranger. She was a wife, mother, sister, daughter, and grandmother as well as a caregiver. She had a love for animals too. She met everyone with a big hug and a bigger smile.

Lisa is preceded in death by her mom, Lorriane Smith James; sister, Tina Perkins, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clarence and Louise Benson, and her grandmother, Eleanor Smith.

She is survived by her husband, James Lee Benson, Sr.; daughter, Jennifer McBee (Brendan); sons, James Lee Benson, Jr. and Ronnie Gleason; father, Frank Leamon James, Sr.; grandchildren, Tristan Ellington, Peyton McBee, Christian Benson, Joseph McBee, Olivia Benson, and Abigail McBee; brothers, Frank Leamon James, Jr. (Wendy) and Christopher James (Sara); sister, Sharon Robbins; and a  host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Saturday, December 27 at George Brothers Funeral Service.
