Mary Kathleen Murphy

Mary Kathleen Murphy, of Jamestown, North Carolina, 80, passed away on March 15, 2019 at Camden Place.

Born in New York City on July 7, 1938, she was the daughter of Stanley Joseph and Justina Fitzgerald Murphy. She received her BA from the College of Mount St. Vincent, NY, and her MS from Hofstra University, NY. She taught/tutored all ages for almost 60 years. Over the many years that she lived in Guilford County, NC she was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She will be remembered for her wit, wisdom, and warmth. She brought immense joy to many people.

She is survived by her daughters, Suzanne Marie Grimes, Jennifer Anne Amico (Vincent), Holly Elizabeth Adams (Chad); grandchildren, Dominic, Mary Isabella, Ian, and Evelyn, and her nieces and nephews Sharon, Timothy, Gail, and Gerald Murphy. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and brother Peter Gerald Murphy.

A funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Father Louis Canino, OFM on Monday, March 18, 2019 at 11 am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 2203 W. Market St., Greensboro, NC with interment at Gilmore Memorial Park, 6500 Liberty Rd., Julian, NC.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Labre Indian School in Ashland, Montana 59004.
