Mary Ann (Brigman) Mitchell, 78, of Greensboro, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday December 22, 2025, at George Brothers Funeral Service. The burial will follow at Westminster Gardens.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Mary Ann was born in Guilford County on May 14, 1947, to the late William and Eloise Womack Brigman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Jesse Sue Hutchinson and Jimmy Brigman.
She was formerly employed with North Carolina National Bank in the BankCard Division and American Express. For the last eighteen years, she was employed by Guilford County Schools and was one of the “lunch ladies” at Southern Guilford High School.
Mary Ann’s family meant everything to her, just as she did to them; her home was central to any holiday, and her potato salad was legendary. Her house was the setting for so many memories, whether she was taking care of a family member in need or spending time with her great nephews and niece. She always made sure that everyone in her family was taken care of, no matter the situation. In addition to being a wonderful sister and aunt to her family, she was a beloved friend to those she met throughout her life.
Words cannot express how much she will be missed.
Mary Ann is survived by her brothers Billy Brigman and Jay Brigman (Sandie); her nephews, Sonny Hutchinson, Mike Hutchinson, Jeff Hutchinson (Kathy), Jesse Hilliard and Jayson Brigman; her great-nephews, Dean Hutchinson and Alex Hutchinson; her great-niece, Katelyn Hutchinson; her great-great-nephew, Tyson Hilliard; and her best friends Franki Morgan and Julie Harris.
In lieu of flowers, (especially the dreaded poinsettias, IYKYK), memorial contributions may be made to one of Mary Ann’s favorite charities, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Children’s Home Society of North Carolina.
