Mourning deeply in grief and sorrow, we say farewell to Michael Dean Holmes (age 67), after a brief illness. Quiet and peacefully, he went to his eternal Heavenly home Saturday, December 27th 2025, at the residence.
Mike was born to the late Earl Holmes and Nellie Jones Holmes on July 26th, 1958.
He has always been a very laid back, easy-going, calm, cool and collected kind of guy.
True story:
Years back at the family Christmas eve gift exchange, Michael did not realize the cabinet he was leaning on, also had a lit candle. He soon felt his arm getting hot and realized the flame was burning his sleeve! He slipped out silently and unnoticed, to extinguish his arm. A bit concerning, we all smell something burning. Mike calmly says from the other room “It’s just me”. Luckily, he only got a blister. But as always, he is still calm and collected.
Mike spent his earlier years in Hardware Sales. And in later years worked in the printing business.
He was incredibly talented at woodworking. And enjoyed shooting pool and going fishing with his sister.
Michaell is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Nellie Holmes, and brothers Wayne, Billy, and James Holmes.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Joanie Austin Holmes, sisters Brenda Oakes and Sandy Smith, and brother Donald Holmes, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, friends and loved ones.
At Michaels request, there will not be a service.
Please feel free to honor Mike, in a thought, or a prayer or the memories you shared.
