Michael Jay Robinson

Michael Jay Robinson, 76, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at his residence. He was a longtime resident of Greensboro, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sid and Ponzell (Deel) Robinson. Michael is survived by his brother, David, two daughters, Michelle Murray (Jay) and Heather Woods (Tim) and four grandchildren, Chase, Heather, Sid, and Miranda.

He worked in home waterproofing sales for many years and earned several awards. Michael studied English at East Carolina University and Greensboro College. As a teen he played lead roles in several high school plays and accepted an invitation to an actor’s internship during summer productions at Flat Rock Playhouse. He was involved in local Little Theatre productions. Michael was an avid reader of history and National Geographic. A talented writer and story teller, Michael penned many short stories, one submitted to Esquire magazine in the late 1960’s.

Mike had interests in sailing and flying. He enjoyed music by The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, and John Denver.

Handsome and intelligent, his quick wit will be missed by all who knew him. His special laughter is remembered by friends and family. He loved his daughters and held deep pride for his grandchildren, who remember his jokes and laughter.

A private service will be held at Guilford Memorial Park.
