Mildred "Anne" Estes of Greensboro, North Carolina, originally of Baltimore, Maryland, died in her home January 9, 2024, after a short battle with lung cancer. She was the daughter of Charles and Lelia Blanton and was predeceased by her brothers James and Charles.
Anne Estes was a constant raconteur, well-read, and avid student of the mind. Her ability to leave an impression with others will not soon be forgotten. Those who knew Anne appreciated her intelligence, quick-witted humor, persistent nature and caring heart.
Anne was an artist and enjoyed graphic design. Among her favorite subjects were her constant inspirations: animals and religious imagery.
Anne found solace in her spirituality and converted to Catholicism as an adult. She remained very rooted in her Catholic faith. Anne prided herself on sharing the rosary and the power of prayer. She was an active member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
Anne is survived by her sons, William Jackson "Jack" (Linda) Day of Fairfax, South Carolina, and William "Will" (Catherine) Estes of Norcross, Georgia; her grandchildren, Adia Estes of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Joshua, Julia and Sarah Beth Estes of Dunwoody, Georgia.
In death, Anne is reunited with her long-time best friend, Faye Robichaux. Anne and Faye were known to go dancing, practice Taekwondo, go to church, gardening and often be by each other's side.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at George Brothers Funeral Home in Greensboro, North Carolina. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, please specify the "One on One Charitable Fund" in the subject line.
