Alan Dennis Preston, age 78, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at his residence.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00pm Friday, July 12th at Cathedral of His Glory. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00am in the church sanctuary.
Mr. Preston was born, in Wilmington, NC, to the late Marion and Ethel Shackleford Preston. Alan graduated from Sumner High School, attended Berklee College of Music and Bob Jones University. He is a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was a faithful member of the Cathedral of His Glory where he served as the church pianist. Alan was owner of Preston Piano Services with forty years of service to the community of Greensboro.
Alan is survived by his loving wife Brenda Hill Preston of 56 years; children Stephen Preston (Theresa), Timothy Preston (Heather), Michael Preston (Lisa Marie) and Faith Hunt (Andy); brothers Charles Preston and David Preston; special aunt Dot Welch. Also surviving are his nine grandchildren Sarah, Elliana, Da’Wuan, Passion, Destin, Michaela, Malachi, Manoah, and Miracle.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cathedral of His Glory, 4501 Lake Jeanette Rd. Greensboro, NC 27455.
