Mr. Calvin Overlee Adams, 96, of Browns Summit, NC was called home to be with his Lord on October 30, 2024.
He was born September 22, 1928 to the late William Thomas Adams
and Treva White Head (Adams) in Winston-Salem, NC. He attended Reynolds High School before moving to Guilford County and finishing school at Monticello High School where he met and later married his high school sweetheart Carolyn Bowman on December 17, 1948. Together they had four children.
Calvin began a business career as a salesman for Motor Bearings and Parts Company before moving onto entrepreneurial endeavors at Gate City Rubber Stamp, Airport Electric (later known as Bandag Corporation), Kaleidoscope Gifts, and Southeast Tube and Metal Fabricators. He and his wife Carolyn were members of Lebanon Baptist Church. He was also a member of The Gideons International for many years. He attended and was a proud charter member of the Men's Bible Study taught by John Willett and served as a deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. He loved to read and study the Bible and never missed an opportunity to tell others about Jesus. He will always be remembered for his strong witness for his Lord, his quick wit, his early rising to get his day started and his strong work ethic.
Calvin was preceded in death by his loving wife of 75 years, Carolyn Bowman Adams.
He is survived by his children, Bonnie Adams, Jimmy Adams, Shirley Beavers (Robert) and Tommy Adams (Paula); five grandchildren Jeremy Beavers, Susan Beavers, Courtney Adams, Brooke Nelson (Ryan), Luke Adams (Taunee); and 9 great grandchildren Culley Beavers, Huxley Beavers, Lincoln Adams, Colby Nelson, Case Nelson, Deacon Adams, Weston Adams, Cash Nelson and Ivy Adams.
Funeral Services will be held at Lebanon Baptist Church on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at 3 pm with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 pm prior to the service at the church.
