Mr. Carlton Whitesell, Sr. Obituary

Mr. Carlton Joseph Whitesell, Sr., age 73, passed away Monday April 10, 2023, at Adams Farm Living and Rehabilitation Center.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Trinity Church, with casual dress attire.

Mr. Whitesell was born, in Guilford County, to the late Raymond and Edith Overman Whitesell on December 31, 1949.  He was a graduate of the last senior class of Liberty High School and furthered his education at Guilford Technical Community College. He joined the United States Army in June of 1970 and worked in many types of industries including as a Guilford County Sherriff and, in construction, as a brick mason.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Carlton Whitesell, Jr; brother Curtis Whitesell and sister Julie Hill.

He is survived by his wife, of 39 years, Janet Whitesell; daughter Tracy Lyn Saunders and her husband Jody of Elon; grandson Jackson Saunders; sister Linda Harden of Kernersville; aunt Mary Lou Allred of Asheboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity Church 5200 West Friendly Ave. Greensboro, NC  27410.
