Mr. Earnest Ray Odom, age 84, passed away Monday July 7, 2025, at Moses Cone Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday at George Brothers Funeral Service with Rev. Kenneth Terry officiating the service. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4:00pm-6:00pm Friday at Geroge Brothers Funeral Service.
Mr. Odom was born in Darlington County, South Carolina to the late Carlton and Schadie Deese Odom. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Patricia Anne Odom and special granddaughter Lauren Nesbitt.
Mr. Odom was a loving, kind, and simple man, who always gave of himself unconditionally to others and saw the best in everyone, regardless of their background. He was a faithful member of Bridge of Hope Church and retired after many years of service as an owner/operator of Salvage Disposal Company in Greensboro. Because of his heart of serving others, he was a United States Navy veteran while serving in the Cuban Missile Crisis. He enjoyed many hobbies, including spending time, with his family and friends, out on the lake fishing, camping, or traveling. He was an avid Atlanta Braves and Duke Blue Devil fan.
Mr. Odom is survived by his loving wife, of sixty years, Laura Odom of Greensboro; daughters Melissa Nesbitt (Jeffrey) and Pamela Spicuzza all of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In honor of Mr. Odom, memorials may be given to Bridge of Hope Church 4104 Short Farm Rd. Greensboro, NC 27406 and take time to spend with your family and loved ones.
The family of Mr. Odom would like to give their sincere appreciation to the Moses Cone nursing staff and doctors in the emergency room, 2 West, and the neurologist for the compassionate care and support given to Mr. Odom and his family.
