Our beloved Papaw/Daddy, Jimmy Lee Adcock, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
Papaw was born on September 19, 1950, to Allenby and James Adcock in Rosman, NC. He was born in the family home, a beautiful little red house situated on a hillside in the mountains of North Carolina.
Jimmy (Papaw) graduated from Rosman High School. He began working with sheet metal at a young age and was extremely talented. He worked for M.L. Eakes Company, where he started at the bottom of the ladder and worked his way up to Vice President. He loved his boss, Marion Eakes, who was both his mentor and best friend. Marion taught him how to create and draft and quickly recognized Jimmy’s creativity and spark for Mechanical Engineering. Years later, Jimmy decided to open his own Mechanical Engineering, Contracting, and Fabrication company. He took great pride in his company, Multicraft Mechanical Inc. He created machines that processed tobacco for Bailey’s and fabricated many things for RJR, Collins & Aikman, and many other companies. He enjoyed working alongside his brother, Gary Adcock, and his brother-in-law, Vernon Lindall. Side by side, they grew up and helped one another become great men. Jimmy’s many creations led to patents and recognition of his accomplishments in the industry. Later, he also opened an Electrical Contracting company, CMS Services. His passion for his work and for his family was astounding. He considered his employees family and often went above and beyond to help them and their loved ones.
He never missed a basketball game at Vandalia Christian School in the 1990s, faithfully cheering for his girls and supporting them at every turn. That love and dedication only grew when his grandchildren were born. He and Mamaw never missed an event, always bringing joy to their grandchildren’s faces. He enjoyed working in the yard and riding the grandkids around on his John Deere tractor. Though he was always busy, he never missed anything that mattered to his family.
He loved his wife Wanda (Mamaw) beyond words. She was the love of his life. They married when she was just 16 years old and spent their lives devoted to one another. After Wanda’s horrific accident in 2016, Jimmy spent 55 days sitting faithfully by her side. His love for her and his faith in the Lord astounded everyone around them. His testimony of faith and miracles was powerful, and Jimmy never missed an opportunity to tell others of Christ’s love. He made sure every person he met knew that God still performs miracles. His favorite quote was, “Are you looking up today?” Often, he caught people off guard with this question, not realizing at first that what he meant was, “Are you ready to see your Savior?” Jimmy truly witnessed to everyone he met.
He also loved music and enjoyed playing gospel hymns on his harmonica. Jimmy’s love for family extended beyond blood. He never met a stranger and loved to share Jesus with everyone he encountered. He loved good food and great company. His favorite restaurants became part of his extended family, especially Spring Valley Restaurant in Greensboro and The Biscuit Company in Randleman. He loved the food, but even more, he loved the people. A special thank-you goes to Kevin, who made Jimmy’s mornings wonderful every day. He often took his grandchildren out to eat, always making sure they felt cared for. He even knew his grandchildren’s teachers and prayed for them daily. He and Mamaw would drop by his daughter’s school with pizza for her students, filling the classroom with joy. The children all called him “Papaw,” and they quickly learned that his visits meant pizza or candy.
Jimmy also loved his dogs. Over the years, he had many, but he especially loved playing with his dog, Sparky. In recent years, he spent much of his time with his little dogs, Oliver and Pickle, affectionately calling her Mrs. Pickles. He enjoyed sitting in the kitchen, watching and taking pictures of the deer that came to his window. He faithfully fed them all and loved every bit of the wildlife around him.
Jimmy’s life was marked by hard work, faith, generosity, and deep love. He leaves behind a legacy of family, faith, and kindness that touched everyone who knew him.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Adcock; daughters, Melissa (Shawne) Simmons and Cynthia (Scott) Brower; and his grandchildren: Brandon (Hannah) Brower, Brooklynn Brower, Brody Simmons, and Victoria Simmons, along with her special friend Staff Sergeant Samuel Moon. He is also survived by his brothers, Stanley (Debbie) Adcock and Gary Adcock; his sisters, Sherry Hoxit and Lynn (Mike) Payne; his brother-in-law, Vernon (Dana) Lindall; and his cousin and best friend, Roger (Darlene) Morgan. He leaves behind many nephews, nieces, cousins and wonderful family who will cherish his memory.
