Mr. John Weglinski Obituary

John Anthony Weglinski, 88, of Greensboro, NC died at home surrounded by his family. John, also affectionately known as “Grampy”, was born June 15, 1938, in Jersey City, NJ. He graduated 3rd in his class at St. Peter’s Prep in 1956. He was awarded the Ford Scholarship and attended The University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN. Upon graduating from Notre Dame in 1960 he went to Army Officer Basic Training at Fort Riley, KS and then on to Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. He was stationed at Fort Devens, MA where he met his future wife, Anne St.Germain. John was deployed to France and Germany as part of the Strategic Army Command, spending time there during the Berlin Wall crisis. On September 14, 1963, John married Anne in Chelmsford, MA. John worked for Bendix/Honeywell for over 40 years. His job took him to NJ, CO, and MI, ultimately retiring in Boyne City, MI where he and Anne lived for over 30 years, after which he moved to Greensboro, NC to live with his daughter Karen and her family. While in Greensboro, John joined Mt. Pisgah Methodist Church where he was a beloved member of the “Christians Under Construction” Sunday School class, Methodist Men and Emmaus Reunion group. John was also a member of Guilford Rotary for a few years.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Irene (Wernicki) Weglinski and his loving wife of 45 years, Anne St.Germain Weglinski. John is survived by: his 3 children Michael (Charu) of Tracy, CA; Karen (Brent) of Greensboro, NC; and Peter (Mita) of Flagstaff, AZ; and his grandchildren: MaryBeth (Kevin), Margaret (Nick), Samantha, Katie (John), Sean, Alex, Oz, Troy and Dylan; his 4 great-grandchildren Josh, Nico, Sophia and Eliza; his brother: Ron and his niece Jennifer and nephew Andrew.

John will be forever remembered for his sweet smile, kind spirit and willingness to help others in a time of need.

George Brothers Funeral Service is handling the arrangements. A Celebration of Life will be held in John’s memory on August 8, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, we ask people to make a donation to a charity of their choice in memory of John (Grampy
