Mr. Lonnie Joe Burns, age 83, went Home to be with his Savior Jesus Christ and loving wife on Sunday February 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday February 14, 2025, at George Brothers Funeral Service with ordained minister and daughter Tammy Smith officiating the service. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park with military honors provided by Randolph County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends, at George Brothers Funeral Service, beginning at 1:00pm on Friday.
Mr. Burns was born in Linden, Texas to the late John Oswald and Rosa Lee Smith Burns. He was a graduate of Linden-Kildare High School and East Texas State University. He touched many lives through teaching Sunday School at Calvary Baptist Church and Fairview Baptist Church for over thirty years. He served his country honorably and faithfully, for twenty-four years, in the United States Air Force while retiring as a Sr. Master Sergeant. He also retired from AT&T, as an Engineering Associate, and worked in government security, as technical support.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, of sixty-three years, Clarice Little Burns; brothers Travis Burns, Bennie Burns, Alvis Burns, and Johnnie Burns; sisters Violet Anderson, Lurlene Lawrence, and Bobbie Martin.
He is survived by his daughter Tammy Smith and husband Gary of Liberty; grandsons Jonathan Thomas Smith and Hunter Keaton Smith and wife Olivia; great-grandson Easton Kane Smith; brothers Troy Burns and Clarence Burns both of Linden, Texas.
George Brothers Funeral Service is assisting the family of Mr. Burns.
