Steven "Steve" Meeks passed away peacefully at his home in Greensboro on June 17, 2024.
Steve was born on October 11, 1960 in Greensboro. He worked for Walmart for over 15 years and previously worked for many years at Cone Mills White Oak Plant. He worked hard and didn't let his physical limitations get in the way. Those who knew him admired his strong work ethic, perseverance, and optimism. He was semi-retired and enjoying life. His top priority was spending time with family. Steve loved his family and friends deeply and didn't let a day go by without checking in on his loved ones. His grandchildren were truly his pride and joy. He enjoyed sharing movies and television shows with his grandkids and taking them on outings.
Steve's favorite place to be was on a beach listening to the peaceful ocean waves, which he did as often as possible. Steve also enjoyed going to restaurants, cooking southern food, cheering for the Tar Heels, and listening to all types of music. One of his favorite songs was "The Outlaw's Prayer." He was young at heart and liked to joke and make people laugh. Children and babies could always bring a smile to his face. A man of faith, he was generous and compassionate with no judgement, willing to help anyone he met.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mildred Bolen; son, Steven A. Meeks, Jr.; and brother Jeff Meeks.
Steve is survived by his daughter, Amanda Dennison, and son-in-law Dustin Dennison; 3 grandsons, Logan, Bennett, and Nicholas; fiancee, "Sassy" Seburban Copeland; sister, Sandra Hincher; and many nieces and nephews. They will all miss him dearly.
A memorial will be held by the family at a later date.
