Mr. Thomas Henderson Hipp

Mr. Thomas Henderson Hipp, age 90, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday September 24, 2023, at the Blumenthal Jewish Home.

A funeral service will be held 2:00pm Wednesday at Philadelphia Baptist Chapel with Rev. Ryan Crowder and Rev. Joe Chandler officiating the service.  The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00pm till the service time at the church.

Mr. Hipp was born, in Guilford County, to the late Lester and Mary Horton Hipp and was educated at Proximity School in Greensboro.  He served as a deacon of the Baptist faith, and was a former member of Shining Light Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. Jimmy Dillion, and shared his love of music with the Ambassador Quartet.  He retired from Tobacco USA with over forty years of service.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by the mother of his children Lala Norwood Hipp and daughter, of eight months, Ruth Ann Hipp.

He is survived by his children Jimmy Hipp and wife Debbie of Greensboro and Brenda Medders and husband Tom of Greensboro; sister Hazel Jones.  Also surviving are three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
