DING DONG THE “BUTCH” IS DEAD!!!

Mr. Wellford “Butch” Nettleton Buchanan, Jr., age 70, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday July 21, 2020 at his residence.

A graveside service will be 3:00 pm Thursday at the Mausoleum Chapel of Westminster Gardens 3601 Whitehurst Road Greensboro, NC 27410. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service.

Butch was born in Lebanon County, PA to the late Wellford and Virginia Taylor Buchanan, Sr.  He served his county during Vietnam in the United States Army. He was employed with the United States Postal Service, as a mail carrier, as long as his health allowed him to.  He was a member of the Greensboro Elks Lodge, and a member of their Billiards League, as well as a regular at Herbies Dinner.   

Butch never met a stranger, with his corny jokes, famous t-shirt collection, and funny hats, he was a friend to everyone that crossed his path.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a niece Karon Buchanan.

Butch is survived  by his daughters Iris and Christine Buchanan both of New Hampshire; sisters Mary White and husband Kelly, Marian Blackman and husband Robby; brother Bruce Fuller;  grandchildren Gavin Kwon, Abigail Ruppel, and Tyler Ruppel; nieces Mikell Turner, Karma White, Gloria Luna; nephew Walter Pulver: great-niece Elyse Horner; great-nephew Charlie Bellow.  Also surviving are his good friends Betsy and Ronnie Gaines, his ex-wife Lana Doughty her husband Mark and son Elliot Doughty.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Greensboro Elk’s Lodge 2201 Cornwallis Dr. Greensboro, NC   27408.
