Mrs. Betty Waters Obituary

Betty Waters, age 91, passed away at home on August 25, 2024 after a brief illness.

Betty was born in Guilford County to the late Guy Thomas and Lois May. She was a graduate of Alamance High School. As a teenager and throughout her life, she loved giving back to The Lord by sharing her talent of playing the piano and organ at the various churches she attended and she played for many weddings and funerals. She was employed by Burlington Industries.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, John B. Waters, and now joins him in Heaven. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Guy May, Jr., Dave May, John May, Billy May, and sister, Sue Tillman.

Betty is survived by her children, Dale Waters (Wanda), David Waters, Pamela Davis (Todd), as well as her beloved grandchildren, Craig Smith, Laura Smith, John Waters, Amy Waters, and their mother Lindsay. She and Amy shared a very close and special bond. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Brady and brother, Lewis May (Edna) and sister-in-law, Jean Talley, and many loved nieces and nephews. Betty had two very dear, life-long friends, Helen Compton and Marian Maness. Late in life, she was blessed to find a very special love and friendship with Les Davis. The family wishes to thank two very special people, Chuck McGlamery and Elizabeth Santore, as well as the staff at Clapps Nursing Center.

Her children loved her more than words can say and life will never be the same, but they are comforted to know she is now with her Heavenly Father. They are blessed to have been raised by a strong Christian mother and will always remember her telling them early on and throughout life, if they couldn’t be anything else, they could always be kind to others, and the importance of being kind. Her greatest joy in life was becoming a stay at home mom, taking care of, and loving her family.
