Mrs. Cathy Yountz Young

Mrs. Cathy Yountz Young, age 71, passed away Saturday March 29, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

A loving wife, mother, and a friend to all, Cathy was born, in Forsyth County, to the late John Christy and Norma Jean Yountz.  She was a retiree from Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation as an accountant and was a faithful member of Summerfield Peace United Methodist Church.  She volunteered many hours at Wesley Long Community Hospital and to her church family.  Along with volunteering, she enjoyed sharing her love of others by crocheting blankets and woodworking crafts.

Cathy is survived by her loving husband Thomas Young; children Felicia Young, James Barber, Jr., Chris Young, Brian Barber, Sabrina Cook, and Michael Barber; brothers Chris Yountz, Al Yountz, and Darrin Yountz.  She was adored by her six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A celebration of life service will be held 3:00pm Saturday, April 5, at Summerfield Peace United Methodist Church (2334 Scalesville Rd. Summerfield, NC  27358) with the family receiving friends following the service.
