Mrs. Frances “Joan” Amones Smith, age 88, went Home to her Heavenly Father on Saturday February 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00pm on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Guilford Memorial Park, officiating by her loving husband, of sixty-nine years, Rev. Douglas Smith, Sr.
Mrs. Smith was born in Plymouth, Indiana to the late Gerald and Olive South Amones. She attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina, and touched many lives as a pastor’s wife, for fifty-five years, at Stanley Road Baptist Church, and as an elementary teacher, for several schools, including Vandalia Christian School where she retired.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Douglas Smith, Jr., granddaughter Candice Nicole Walker, and sister Ruth Doll.
In addition to her husband Rev. Douglas Smith of Greensboro, she is survived by her children Jodi English and husband Chuck, Stephen Smith and wife Yanti, and Jeanne Walker and husband Earney; brother John Amones. Also surviving are two grandchildren Holly Noel Walker and Gray Stephen Smith.
