Mrs. Irene Robertson Bowman

Ellen Irene (Robertson) Bowman Sep 19, 1950 - Sep 14 2023, passed away at the age of 72 in Farmville, Virginia. Irene was an only child to Viola Mae Robertson and Elwood Hollan Robertson. She was resident in and around Greensboro NC for the majority of her life. 

She met her husband, Richard Bowman at the bowling alley she worked at at the time. They got married and soon started a family. She was a hard worker, starting out at Fireman's Fund, then after having her daughter, began work at Burkhardt America and part time at Greensboro News and Record to help provide for her kids. 

Irene had 2 things she loved in her life, her kids and nerdy stuff. Before it was cool for a girl to like comic books and sci-fi she read and collected as many comic books as she could, even being a runner up in an edition of Adventure Comics for designing the new Supergirl costume of the time. 

She instilled her love of comics and sci-fi into her 2 kids, often times taking them to the library and movie theaters when new things were released. 

Irene is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Bowman, mother Viola Robertson and father Elwood (Bob) Robertson, and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her son Troy William Bowman, daughter Christina Mae Bowman-Rodriguez, Son-in-law Kristopher Rodriguez, and grandson Tristan Lee Bowman. 

A funeral service will be held 2:00pm Saturday at George Brothers Funeral Service. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00pm. A private burial will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church in Franklinville, NC.
