Mrs. Joretta Cox Smith

Mrs. Joretta Cox Smith, age 86, passed away Tuesday April 4, 2023, at Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro, North Carolina.

A funeral service will be held 1:00pm Friday, April 7, 2023, at Pleasant Garden Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Hefner officiating the service. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, in Liberty, NC, following the service. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at the church.

Mrs. Smith was born, in Randolph County, to the late Buren and Nina Williams Cox.  She retired from HBD Incorporated as a supervisor and attended Pleasant Garden Baptist Church where she was a member of the Faith Sunday School Class.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, of sixty-two years, Jimmy Ray Smith; brothers J. Van Cox and Buddie Lee Cox.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her children Darren Smith and his wife Linda of Burlington and Lynn Smith of Greensboro; brother John Allen Cox and his wife Jeanette of Climax.  Also surviving are three grandchildren Brandee Morgan Wyrick and her husband Connor of Greensboro, Dylan Smith and Logan Smith both of Burlington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Pleasant Garden Baptist Church 1415 Neely Rd. Pleasant Garden, NC  27313.
