Mrs. Martha "Linda" Grooms Jones

Mrs. Martha “Linda” Grooms Jones, age 79, passed away Sunday June 7, 2026, at her residence.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Friday in the chapel of George Brothers Funeral Service.  Burial will follow at Gilmore Memorial Park in Julian. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jones was born in Marlboro County to the late Vester and Susan Strickland Jones.  She worked alongside her late husband, Harvey Jones, at Jones Hauling and retired from Cone Mills. Mrs. Jones was a faithful member of Christ Way Church of Greensboro.

Her children were her pride and joy. She was very passionate about her flowers and southern cooking.  Her feisty spirit was second to none and she was loved by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, and husband Harvey Jones, she was preceded in death by her daughter Eva Simmons, grandson Harold “Pee-Dad” Steven Simmons, sister Phylis Brown, and brothers James Grooms and Frank Grooms.

She is survived by son James “Buddy” Caulder and wife Holly; son-in-law Steve Simmons; sister Diane Hamilton.  She was adored by her grandchildren Holly Caulder, Somer Caulder, Karley Caulder, Jordan Sides, Josh Robinson, and Justin Robinson; great grandson Tristan Langley.
