Mrs. Mary Ellen Thompson

Mrs. Mary Ellen Thompson, age 85, went Home to her Heavenly Father on Friday, October 10, 2025, at her residence.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12 noon on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the Old Chapel of Community Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Davis and Rev. JR Gossett officiating the service with burial to follow t Lakeview Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00am in the Family Life Center of Community Baptist Church.

A native of Randolph County, Mary Ellen was born to the late Archie and Maggie McCoy Williamson. She was a faithful member of Community Baptist Church where she showed her love, for others, with a servant’s heart and was a volunteer for Senior Services.  She retired from Bank of America after many years of service.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband’s Tom Coins and Paul Thompson; sister Anne Payne; brothers Robert Williamson and Floyd Williamson.

Mary Ellen is survived by her son Randall Smith and grandson Christopher Ray Smith both of Greensboro. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In honor of Mary Ellen, memorials may be directed to Community Baptist Church 1330 Burnetts Chapel Rd. Greensboro, NC 27406 or to Hospice of the Piedmont 1801 Westchester Dr. High Point, NC 27262.
