Ruby Lea (Cooper) Greeson died peacefully at home, with her daughter by her side, on October 8, 2024 in Julian, NC at the age of 92.
Ruby Lea is survived by her children, Sylvia Norman (Bruce), of Julian, and Jimmy Greeson, of Burlington; a special sister-in-law, Hilda Humble, of Pleasant Garden; her grandchildren Jamie Norman (Tammy), of Julian, Justin Greeson, of Kernersville, Katy Greeson, of Myrtle Beach; and her great-grandchildren Madison Perdue (Colton), of Pleasant Garden, Brett Norman, of Julian, Jenna Shores, of Myrtle Beach, Ruby Quinn Greeson, of Kernersville. Ruby Lea is preceded in death by her husband, James “Ox” Greeson, her parents Trixie and Ollie Cooper, her brothers R.C. Cooper and Lewis Cooper, and her sister-in-law Janet Cooper.
Ruby Lea Greeson was born on July 25, 1932, in Greensboro, NC to Trixie and Ollie Cooper. She attended Nathanael Greene school, then married James “Ox” Greeson in 1948. Ruby Lea was a homemaker, who raised her children, Sylvia and Jimmy, and worked on the tobacco farm, later working at Southeast High School cafeteria and Tabernacle Day Care. Her children remember her as a kind mother, who encouraged them in life.
Ruby Lea loved to worked puzzles and play Rook with friends and family. She was a gentle individual who loved annual beach trips and was an active and devout member of Coble’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Julian.
The graveside funeral is scheduled for Sunday, October 13, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Coble’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (5200 Coble Church Rd, Julian, NC 27283), with Pastor Jennifer Shimota presiding. Mrs. Greeson will lie-in-state at George Brothers Funeral Service (803 Greenhaven Drive, Greensboro, NC) on Saturday, October 12, 2024, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ruby Lea’s life and the resurrection promises of Jesus Christ. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Amedysis Hospice of Burlington or Coble’s Lutheran Church. The family would like to thank Amedysis Hospice for their care of Ruby Lea, as well as the family and friends who drew near whenever she needed them.
