Mrs. Teresa "Lorie" Wooten Obituary

Teresa Loraine "Lorie" Enochs Wooten, 66, passed away on May 29, 2026, in Greensboro, North Carolina, while receiving compassionate care at Moses Cone Hospital.

Lorie was born on April 5, 1960, to Robert "Bob" Nease Enochs and Mary Frances "Fran" Moffitt Enochs. She was raised primarily in Greensboro, North Carolina, alongside her sisters, Lainie and Valrie, and her brother, Bobby. She attended Southeast Guilford High School before moving with her family to Midlothian, Virginia, where she completed her senior year and graduated from Clover Hill High School in 1978.

One of the greatest blessings of Lorie's life began during the summer of 1977 when she met Victor Wooten. After seeing her for the first time, Victor told his mother that he had just seen the girl he was going to marry. When his mother asked when their first date would be, he replied, "She won't date me yet, but I'm still going to marry her." His determination proved true and after securing that first date, Victor faithfully traveled to Midlothian every weekend to see Lorie until she graduated high school, and the two were married in Greensboro on November 4, 1978.

For the next 48 years, Lorie and Victor built a life rooted in unwavering love and devotion. Together they faced life's struggles, including life altering accidents and health challenges, while also sharing countless blessings, joyful family memories, and treasured trips to the beach and the mountains. Through every season of life, they held tightly to one another.

Above all else, Lorie cherished her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family and found immense joy in every stage of their lives. Her grandchildren lovingly called her "Nana," and the happiness they brought to her heart was evident to everyone who knew her.

Lorie's professional career included service with The Education Center, Eagle Obstetrics and Gynecology (Dr Fore and Dr. Mezer) and most recently Triad Psychiatric Counseling Center of Greensboro.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Robert "Bob" Nease Enochs and Mary Frances "Fran"  Enochs.

Lorie is survived by her devoted husband, Victor Bryan Wooten, of the home; her sons, Christopher Bryan Wooten (44) of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Matthew Ryan Wooten (36) and his wife, Rebecca, of Charlestown, Indiana; her cherished grandsons, Hunter (22), Mason (16), Easton (13), Grayson (12), Colton (9), and Kane (4); her sister, Barbara Elaine "Lainie" Layton and husband Max of Julian, NC; her brother, Robert "Bobby" Nease Enochs Jr. and wife Christine of Chesapeake, Virginia; and her sister, Valrie Ann Brock and husband James of Borden, Indiana. She also leaves behind nephews and nieces, extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Lorie will be remembered for her loving heart, her steadfast devotion to her husband and family, and the grace and strength with which she lived her life. Her legacy of love will continue through the family she treasured and the countless lives she touched.
