Norman Guynn

Mr. Norman Guynn, 78, of Greensboro, passed away on July 5, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 11, at George Brothers Funeral Service. The burial will follow at Gilmore Memorial Park.

Norman was born to the late, Noah and Ella Guynn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, June Bond, Susie Jamison, Maggaline Ashby, Nancy Dinkins and Helen Lou Ayers and his brothers-in-laws, James Ashby, Dan Dinkins, Grover Guynn and Donald Harvell.

Born in Carroll County, Virginia, Norman took a big leap and moved to North Carolina where he would meet his eventual wife of 59 years, Mary Ellen Wiley. He worked for George C. Brown Company for many years. He had many interests and hobbies and among his favorites were fixing cars, listening to his music, fishing, camping and piddling with lawn mowers and go carts. Basically, Norman was always trying to keep his hands and mind busy. One of his favorite things was his coffee. He always had a cup in his hand if he was awake. He loved to make sure the timer was set so that when he woke up, his coffee was waiting for him.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Ellen Guynn; daughters, Melissa Anne Holleman (Brian), Amy Michelle Carroll (Trevor) and Cindy M. Currie (Tommy); grandchildren. Devin Carroll, Justin Holleman, Kimberly Currie, Jess Carroll, Ashley Tucker, Caleb Haynes, Caroline Carroll and Harley Currie; great grandchildren, Brantleigh Currie, Charlotte Carroll, Alayah Good, Connor Carroll, Gabriel Tucker, Violet Dean, Jason Haynes and one on the way and due in September, Rachel Carroll; brother, Carlie Guynn and sisters, Ruby Guynn and Polly Harvell.

The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service and other times at the residence.
