Greensboro Patsy "Vonnie" LaVaughn Poe King, 59, of Greensboro went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital after a battle with lung and liver cancer. Memorial service will be 6:00 PM Monday, October 6, 2014 at Concord Friends Meeting. Vonnie graduated from Southern Guilford High School in 1973 and worked in child care and as a floral manager for many years before becoming disabled Vonnie loved the outdoors, planting flowers and gardening. She had an amazing talent at creating beautiful wreaths and floral arrangements. She loved the beach, camping, and Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who would go above and beyond to make you smile and feel loved. Vonnie is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Henry and Ethel Colleen Poe, and brothers, Charles Douglas Poe and Clarence David Poe. Vonnie is survived by her daughter, Amy Christensen of Pleasant Garden, her granddaughter, Hanna Christensen and grandson Donavin Christensen. The family will receive friends following the service.
