Peggy Jean (Stubblefield) Flinchum

Peggy Jean Stubblefield Flinchum, 89, of Julian, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023, at Moses Cone Hospital.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Monnett Road Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Vance officiating. Burial will follow at Gilmore Memorial Park.

Peggy was born in Guilford County to the late Early “Stubby” William and Geneva Holt Stubblefield. She graduated from Greensboro High School and was previously a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church. Peggy worked as a bookkeeper for several construction, concrete, and printing businesses until her health declined.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved to care for and spend time with her family. There was always a seat at her table, and she made sure everyone was taken care of. In her younger years Peggy enjoyed her flowers, sewing, catering, cake decorating, and making her famous pound cakes. Most importantly, Peggy loved her family dearly and will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Peggy is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years O.C. Flinchum, Jr.

She is survived by her children, Kaye Perkins (Don), Ed Flinchum (Tammy), and Gary Flinchum; grandchildren, Justin Flinchum, Joshua Flinchum, and Courtney Flinchum; brother JC Stubblefield of TX; and many extended family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm at the church, prior to the service.
