Peggy Irene Jones Solomon, 83, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2025, at her home as she was surrounded by her loving family.
The family will receive friends from 3 until 3:45 pm on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at George Brothers Funeral Service. A service to celebrate her life will be held following the visitation at 4 pm at the funeral home.
Peggy was born in Guilford County, NC to the late Ralph Lester and Dorothy Ingold Jones. She worked for Zayre Department Store for over twenty years, then retired from Guilford County Schools with fifteen years of service, where she worked as a bus driver and in the attendance office. Peggy loved to cook and provide a place for family and friends alike to join together – everyone was welcomed into her home and around her dinner table. Peggy loved her family with all her heart and took great joy in providing for them and cherishing the moments they shared together.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Solomon, Sr.; daughter Dorothy “Reedy” Marie Hammonds; and siblings Jimmy “Wolfman” Jones, Glen “Butch” Jones, and Edward Jones.
Surviving are her children Peggy “Doodle” Dahdah, Raymond “Rick” Eugene Kennedy, Jr. (Wanda), James “Jamey” Dean Kennedy, Sr. (Christine), Terry “Big T” Kennedy (Mary), Rory Fitzgerald (Michele), and Barry Solomon (Amanda); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings Darlene “Dink” Carter, Ralph “Chip” Lester Jones, Jr. and Larry Jones. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who loved her dearly.
