Mr. Pleasant “Ray” Hand, 88 of Greensboro, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 2nd, 2022, at home with his family by his side.
A graveside will be held Friday, April 8, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Lakeview Memorial Park with Pastor Mike Barnette and Rev. Greg Hand officiating.
A native of Rockingham County, he was born September 16, 1933 to the late Pleasant Bart and India Eleanor Hand and was husband of 64 years to Martha Newnam Hand.
Ray was retired from Cone Mills with 42 years of service as a diesel truck mechanic and was a member at Community Chapel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Martha of the home, his son Phillip Mark of the home, his daughter Katherine Hand Dye (Scott), his brother Fred Hand (Dottie) of Eden, sister-in-law Mary Richardson. Grandchildren include Ashley Hand, Amanda Hand, Sarah Dye, James Dye (Amanda), Jesse Dye and Jacob Dye. Great-Grandchildren Myah, Chelsea, Caleb and Kaylee. Nephews John Newnam (Stephanie), Tom Hand (Sherry) and Rev. Greg Hand (Tammy).
He was preceded in death by daughter Janet Melinda, brother James Willard, sister Janie Ann, mother India and father Bart.
