Mrs. Rachel “Anna” Harmon Hardin, 65, passed away on June 27, 2026, at the Mountain Valley Hospice House in Dobson, NC.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at George Brothers Funeral Service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the memorial service.
Anna was born in Guilford County, North Carolina on September 1, 1960, to the late Gene and Judith Lukhart Hayes. In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her siblings, Christopher Drake McManus, Barbara Ann McManus, Bobby Vann McManus and John Paul Lukhart; half brothers, Robert “Robbie” Harmon; step brother, Tony Barnes and step father, Roger Hayes.
In her earlier years, she was a seamstress and was employed with Laughlin Hosiery Mill. More recently, she and her husband worked alongside each other in the siding business.
Anna was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, and a mother figure to many. She was a dedicated homesteader, passionate gardener, and animal lover, with a remarkable ability to repair almost anything—even a broken heart. Anna loved the Lord, her husband, and her family wholeheartedly, and she expressed that love freely and sincerely. No one ever questioned how much Anna cared; she made it evident through her kindness, compassion, and the warm hugs she shared with everyone she loved. Her presence touched countless lives, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Lee Hardin; her siblings, Tiffannie Shephard, Kimberly Hiatt, Sue Wood and Robert McManus; her step mother, Kathy Harmon and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice House in Dobson, North Carolina.
