Retha Gray (Batten) Hopson

Retha Batten Hopson, 77, of Greensboro, went home to be with her Heavenly Father, Friday, November 10, 2023, after a brief battle with cancer. 

Funeral services will be Monday, November 20 at 2pm at Cornerstone Independent Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC.  Burial will follow at Midway Cemetery in McLeansville, NC.  Pastor Bill Davis will be officiating.

Retha was born October 29, 1946 in Johnston County, NC and was a graduate of Micro High School.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Larkin and Etta Mae Batten, and ten siblings.  She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jeffery Hopson (Greensboro); son, Dennis Hopson (Greensboro); daughter, Angela Hopson Smith and husband Jonathan (Crown Point, IN); grandchildren, Michaela and Paytin Smith (Crown Point, IN); brother, Larkin and wife Darla Batten (Lampasas, TX).

Retha was a homemaker and caretaker for the majority of her life and took great pride in her home and family.  She especially loved her grandchildren, her church, and cooking.  She was a member of Cornerstone Independent Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until her passing.

Viewing and visitation will immediately precede the service at 1pm.
