Mr. Rex Tony Handy, 78, of Randleman, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Duke University Hospital.
Funeral service will be held at 5:00pm Saturday, November 18, 2023, at George Brothers Funeral Service with Rev. Ira Godwin officiating. A private family graveside will be held on Tuesday at Guilford Memorial Park.
Mr. Handy was born to the late Lonnie Warren and Maxie Hayes Handy. He attended Sedgefield Elementary School and Alamance High School. Rex was a retired truck driver of over 40 years, even driving alongside his wife, Vickie Handy. He was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Chapel. Rex enjoyed classic country music and classic television shows. He was a successful bowling league member, and he enjoyed playing pool. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing in freshwater and saltwater, and using his hands to fix anything. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Handy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Vickie Handy; children, Lonnie Handy (Tracey), Kelly Sawyer (Rusty), Kevin Handy (Hope), Leah Cruthis (Chris), Kenny Smith, and Angel Pegram (Leon); grandchildren, Landon, Tasha, Carrie, Emma, Dylan, Taylor, Bradley, David, William, Chelsea, and Jacob; 13 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Patricia Collins.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-5:00pm at the funeral home, and following the service.
