Robert E. Marshall, Jr.

Mr. Robert ‘Bob’ E. Marshall, Jr., 89, passed away Wednesday, November
6, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 1:30 pm
at Gate City Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Owens and Pastor
Ronnie Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park
with Randolph County Honor Guard rendering military honors.

Mr. Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Idalene Marshall.

Robert served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of Gate
City Baptist Church. He loved ice cream and reading Zane Grey
westerns. He worked for South Atlantic Bonded Warehouse and the Rucker
family over the years. Robert was very involved with the Southern
Baptist Men’s Association mission group volunteering in Brazil,
Bolivia, and Peru for more than 20 years building churches. On these
mission trips he was in charge of building church pews and altars. He
was involved in community activities and was honored by the Sumner
Civitan Club as Citizen of the Year, and was a builder of good
citizenship.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Rose Marshall; sons, Woody
Marshall (Barbara) and Joseph Robert Marshall (Wendy); and grandson,
Austin Suddreth. He was a father figure to Kim Joseph Smith (Connie).

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:30-1:30 pm at the
church before the service.
