Mr. Ronald Wesley Townsend, Sr., 72 years of age, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at George Brothers Funeral Service. Pastor and friend, Dr. Lawrence Clapp, officiating.
Ronald was a long-time member of South Elm Street Baptist Church, serving on the maintenance committee with his carpenter skills for several years. He belonged to the Victor’s In Prayer Sunday School class, where he loved to study God’s Word. He was also a devoted Southeast Hunt Club member.
He was predeceased by his parents, Kelly “Buster” and Edna Townsend, his brother, William Lee Townsend and his children, Carol and Wes, Jr.
Ronald is survived by his wife of 53 years, Faye Townsend and one of his three children, Tammy Stewart (Tate). He was Paw-Paw to six grandchildren: Johnathan Hill (Sierra), Matthew Griffin, Lauren Lewis (Danny), Cody Stewart, Taylor Townsend, Garrett Townsend and four great-grandsons: Ryan and twin brothers Aaron and Zachary Lewis and Wesley Hill. He was also close to his sister-in-law, Judy Townsend and her family. He loved his extended family and many friends.
The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Private Graveside service will be held at Gilmore Memorial Park at a later date.
