Ronnie D Shafer

Ronnie D. Shafer, 73, died Tuesday, June 16, 2020.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at George Brothers Funeral Service with burial to follow at Plainview Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Ronnie was born January 14, 1947 in Denton County, TX to the late C.B. and Daisy Shafer.  He was a veteran of the US Army and retired from United as a truck driver after 30 years of service.  After Ronnie retired he drove a school bus for over 11 years for Guilford County Schools.  He was a member of Plainview Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kathy Gerringer Barrier; son, Calvin Gerringer (Sherrie); and granddaughter, Courtney Barrier Rhew.

Ronnie is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Gladys Caviness Shafer; sons, Steve and Scott Shafer; daughters, Terri Gerringer Staley (Tony), Lorrie Gerringer Hancock (Bobby), and Donna Gerringer Cauthren (Ricky); siblings, Ardean Shafer, William M. Shafer, and Ann Pearson; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Plainview Baptist Church, 1820 Mt. Hope Church Road, McLeansville, NC 27301.
