Ruth Young Holliday

Ruth Young Holliday, 85, of Winston-Salem, NC entered heaven on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at the Brookridge Retirement Community in Winston-Salem, NC.

Ruth's memorial service will be June 30, 2024, at 2:30 pm at First Baptist Church of Summerfield, 2300 Scalesville Rd, Summerfield, NC 27358.

Ruth was a devoted Christian and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was born July 3, 1938, in Roxboro, NC to the late Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Young, Sr.  Ruth had a passion and gift for music at a young age and she was a graduate of Meredith College, earning her BA in music and organ. Ruth used her musical talent serving the Lord by singing and playing the organ and piano in many churches including First Baptist Church of Summerfield. She was also involved with the Bible Study Fellowship.

Along with her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her son, Deryl B. Holliday, Jr., and her brother, H. Dewey Young, Jr.

Ruth is survived by her beloved husband of sixty-three years, Reverend Dr. Deryl Holliday; daughter, Dawn Dasburg (Andrew); son, Paul Holliday (Lois), and daughter, Julia McDowell (John); ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
